Revival Deluxe Volume 02

Season 29 Episode 3

"I don't know what makes that kind of monster, Martha. And I don't know what has to happen to make a person decide they have to take a life to protect their family."

In this week's episode, Mike and Alex continue their discussion of Tim Seeley and Mike Norton's farm noir tale Revival from Image Comics. The guys jump right into the Chew/Revival crossover issue included in this collection and break down its surprising significance to the overall narrative, and why that's unusual for a publisher crossover book. Then they take stock of the story as a whole and how they're feeling about what has and hasn't been revealed, what's being set up for the back half of the run, which characters they find compelling and which just feel like plot devices, and how reading this comic in single issues as it was released would have been a vastly different experience than reading it now in collected form, knowing there's an endpoint.

There's a fairly big cliffhanger at the end of this arc, and we don't spoil anything coming afterwards, so if you want to know what happens, go find Revival Deluxe Volume 3 (issues #24-35) wherever you get your comics and join up back here again next week for another deep dive discussion!
